Ulitmate Frisbee Beginner Tips
PRESENTED BY FLATBALL GEAR
Ultimate Frisbee Tip 1. Use the dump. Sometimes the best way to advance the disc is by moving backward. For true beginners throwing a dump may seem like bad offense. However, it is easy to see a good dump and swing across the field will open up a whole new playing field.
Ultimate Frisbee Tip 2. Use the full range of your pivot. Using your pivot has many advantages. First of all, you'll have a much lower chance of being hand blocked of you use your pivot. Second, it gives your offence a chance to cut home or away thus increasing the chances of moving the disc up the field.
Ultimate Frisbee Tip 3. Throw fakes, but becareful not to drop the disc. If you're getting hand blocked a lot (once or more each time you play) it is because they know where you are going to throw. Fakes are important to prevent from being hand blocked. This is also a good place to use your pivot. Practice pivoting to the backhand side the back and throwing forehand and vice versa. Pivoting isn't always necessary for a good fake though. A good hammer fake will often throw off the defender as well.
